“You can’t get it finished if you don’t get it started,” said Lisa, my co-worker.

Wow, how simplistic are Lisa’s words? As soon as I heard them, I fell in love.

I’m a procrastinator. And as I let things pile up, getting to those things isn’t easy.

I talk a lot about my clutter — ad nauseam. Many are wondering why I don’t just set aside time and go through the piles.

Maybe it’s because the clutter is well-loved, and to discard things, I would lose a piece of me.

Or perhaps the difficulty lies in the focus of getting started.

And I wonder, as some people fear success as well as failure, do I fear the act of finishing as much as getting started?

Once done, where would I be? Organized? Lost?

It’s a thought that would explain procrastination well.

At least that’s the story I’m sticking with.
