KEELEY’S APRIL 30-DAY CHALLENGE
You Asked Did I Flourish or Flail?
Is Flounder an option?
Day Fourteen prompt: Did you flourish or flail through 2020?
The latter part of 2019 came with a flux of emotion, largely due to monstrous events occurring within a week. There were the births of my great-niece and granddaughter, the death of my beloved psychiatrist of twenty-nine years, and my husband’s liver transplant. How did I make it through the extreme highs and lows?
The start of 2020 came with continued excitement plus exhaustion. Caring for a transplant patient was taxing and worrisome, yet Ed received the perfect match, so we were grateful. In February, my son- and-daughter-in-law married, and their wedding was a stunning affair. We laughed, danced, and loved; nobody foreseeing the mayhem that was yet to come, only two weeks later due to Covid.
Ed didn’t make it to the wedding and stayed home recuperating. My emotions waffled from joy at the wedding to anxiety about Ed’s health as I slept out for the night with my family. Once I arrived home, shit hit the fan as the city locked down due to the pandemic, and my panic rose. I’ve always feared health issues, but Covid took illness to a whole new level.
