RUBY NOIR’S MAY DEEP THOUGHT PROMPTS
Would You Make a Good Criminal?
Ruby Noir asks, Should we ever look away from misdeeds?
Ruby Noir 😈’s May prompt: Are crimes always wrong or does intent play a role? If a mother steals extremely expensive medication that will save the life of her child — is she a criminal? Explain your reasoning.
One must define the meaning of a criminal before one can decide who fits within its parameter. I have a simplistic view. If you break the law, that’s a criminal act. Full stop. There are no half-ways, no maybes or buts. However, how we deal with criminals is never clear cut, not across countries or in theory. I agree with accepting explainable exceptions, but where in Heaven’s name do we draw the line? And who decides?
Is there such a thing as any human on this planet who wears the shackles of innocence and who can do no wrong? No, I didn’t think so. That’s why we have laws. We can’t have people standing in judgment of each other and penalizing those who sin — according to their ethics and morals because some will claim those who commit the recognizable sins from the bible are punishable, while other misdemeanours get a pass.
I am a woman of fairness, but that doesn’t mean I believe every action should get dealt with the same…
