Day One prompt: Write a funny how-to guide on surviving without coffee.

Here I sit at 2:30 a.m. at my computer, writing. My cat, Skye, is no longer on this earth watching me as I write. It’s disrupting my routine. Now, Keeley wants me to forego the coffee I so desperately seek. What’s up with that?

Could I give up coffee? I could for these reasons. First, like alcohol, I’d give it up if every time I took a sip, it made me physically sick. Second, I’d give it up if it put my health in grave danger, and a doctor warned me that continuing would lead to my quick demise. In either of these scenarios, coffee would no longer act as my cozy blanket or energy drink. Instead, it would turn its warm, soothing goodness into poison.

No, thank you.

But giving up coffee would be a challenging feat. If you faced the same predicament, you’d have difficulty too. So, have no fear and use this survival guide to live successfully without the caffeinated brew.

Items you’ll need:

Toothpicks
Eye drops
Fidget toy
Tap shoes
Tissues
Bulletproof vest
Soundproof room
Empty shelf
Dartboard
