Day Nine prompt: Do you celebrate Easter?

I’d say that nowadays, the Easter holiday represents a home-cooked dinner and two days off work. Therefore, it’s a bonus for me, but I’m unsure about Ed. While he loves eating dinner with the fixings, he still primarily works throughout the holidays. Not that he’s complaining.

I’m unsure if Ed misses going to Church. I only asked him once, and I don’t remember his answer, but I’m not sure he gave it much thought. Living together for twelve years in primarily a non-denominational home has its setbacks. It brings on apathy; it leaves out excitement.

My eldest three-year-old granddaughter is currently learning about Passover, so this year, there were no Easter egg hunts, but she did search for the afikomen. My sixteen-month-old grandson tried to help, too. This happened at their other grandparent’s house. At our condo, the only eggs are in our fridge and preparing to become meatloaf someday.

Years ago, I stopped wishing people “Happy Good Friday” after learning its meaning. It’s like saying Happy Yom Kippur. Each religious day is serious. While I don’t have an interest in delving into the…
