Member-only story
When I asked a coworker how his weekend went, he sighed and responded, “It was quiet.” I asked him if this was a good thing and he answered, “Quiet is good.”
I replied, “Can be.”
My weekend was quiet too, but in my case, I sat with a quiet mind — rarely a good thing for an aspiring writer.
Despite watching the small flakes of our first snowfall blossom to larger flakes, I found peace but not inspiration.
As my husband stayed close to home, I found love and coziness, but not motivation.
As both daughters celebrated birthdays, I felt joy and connection, but lacked creativity.
It was another quiet weekend like the weekend before it. My muse must be in hibernation.
But like all muses, mine can be coaxed out of slumber for us to join hands and create together.
Now that’s a good idea with many more yet to come.
