Trick or Prank: This ToT Has Me Questioning Things.
The funniest prank you’ve ever played on someone.
It’s been a long sixty-one years, and yet, hard as I try, I can’t think of a single prank I’ve done outside of prank phone calls, let alone the funniest. I was a serious child, so that may be part of it. The other part may be because of memory loss. I deal with that too.
But I know I’ve played tricks on my children. I wondered what the difference was.
LaGuiri said, “A prank is supposed to be funny, whereas a trick is more focused on deception.”
Now I know I was a trickster, not a prankster. And in this role, unintentionally, I may have done my children wrong.
Situation #1 — Korean dining
Dinner was “all you can eat,” but there were conditions. The server brought us plates of raw meat to barbecue, and once we finished, we could order more. I love lamb and salmon, so we ordered the extended platter, including the cow tongue. Seeing it’s a delicacy in my extended family, I didn’t balk. Adam, at his young age, hadn’t yet tried it.
“Try it, Adam,” I coaxed, but he shook his head at it. Feeding his face with teriyaki beef and chicken…
