This whole paragraph had me at the edge of my seat.

She lost focus almost immediately, her equilibrium tipping as recollections of flying crockery were stirred by Malcolm’s words being virtually thrown at her. The panic rising in her chest, the feeling of being trapped, the no-way-out terror closing in on her. She couldn’t speak.
