This sounds horrifying.

In the dim light and blue glow of the Christmas tree, she could see hundreds, maybe thousands of what looked like large cockroaches in a ten-inch-high undulating mound on the floor. They were gray, metallic looking bugs and over five inches long. What in heaven’s name?

This sounds horrifying. I see one roach and quiver. Why are bugs so disgusting? At least they make fabulous muses. Poor Adam and Abby.
