KEELEY’S MAY 31-DAY CHALLENGE
My Eyes Are Dim, I Cannot See
I should have brought my specs with me.
Day Twenty-nine prompt: A place you’ve visited but never want to again.
I’m a limited traveller. If it requires a long plane ride or I’m not accompanied by family members, I won’t go. I’m too much of a homebody, too anxious about change. But despite my limitations, I’ve travelled some. Thanks to family vacations on several cruises, I’ve seen parts of the world. While I’ve loved the varied excursions per destination, like swimming with the stingrays, climbing a waterfall, riding horseback through the Mayan ruins, zip lining through a rainforest, and mouth-kissing a sea lion, not every island we visited left a positive impression.
I didn’t like Aruba.
I don’t remember what or if I did anything special that day other than visiting the beach. Not that listening to the rolling waves and feeling granules of white sand through my toes isn’t something, but it lacks the adventure I’d fancied. Still enjoying my large extended family was the crème de la crème. Until the day was done, and we headed back to the ship. I wasn’t ready to call it a day, but my daughter had enough, so we parted ways.
