Day Seventeen prompt: An impulse buy you regret.
I have a habit of shopping for what I’ve termed “useless purchases.” I feel the rush from the action of browsing, choosing, handing over the money, and bringing the item home, but I don’t need it — or want it. So, it just sits in its box, taking up space.
My husband, Ed, has a habit of yearning for products advertised on TV infomercials. I’ll beg that we don’t have space or a need, but that doesn’t deter him. He likes how potato fries look in the air fryer and how chicken cooks in the Instant Pot. But the item that turned him on the most was the indoor smokeless barbecue. Since the condo rules state no barbecues on our balconies, this seemed the perfect solution.
Since moving, we’ve missed the little propane barbecue we used during our apartment-dwelling days. Whenever Ed saw a thick and juicy piece of steak, he missed it even more.
“We have no room for the smokeless grill,” I said, but to no avail.
