It’s coming up to the second anniversary of my craziest year. It highlights a time of two births, one death, and a life-altering surgery.

My niece was born, my psychiatrist died, my granddaughter was born, and my husband had a liver transplant — all within nine days.

It was a roller coaster of emotions — a change in my status in the blink of an eye.

I handled becoming an aunt, an ex-patient, a grandmother, and a caregiver all at once. I processed feelings of happiness, sorrow, pure joy, and indescribable gratitude, managing them all in a healthy way.

Sometimes we find ourselves riding the waves of extreme highs and lows, testing our true strength.

It’s times like this we have opportunities to impress ourselves and show others they can rely on us.

Births, deaths, and blessings — they’re all a meaningful part of life.
