It Appears We Have a Problem, Watson

And I’ve got only myself to blame.

Writing my newsletter has become one of my greatest senses of joy. When I first started writing it, I worried about what I’d say, but seeing as I only publish once monthly, the ideas keep coming.

So, what’s the problem?

Well, I’m not sure there’s one, but typically, shortly after hitting the publish button, many read my newsletter. I derive great pleasure from the numbers. Knowing many gain joy from my words is the icing on the cake.

Yesterday, I realized too late that I may have chosen a deceiving headline. Have a look. It’s called New and Improved: Get Your Free Sample.

The newsletter is about my resilience and how I’ve changed over the years to handle adversity in ways I’ve never handled it before. But that title! If read out of context, it sounds like I’m selling something, an idea perhaps, or a revised version of my newsletter, rather than a free sample of “me.” The fact the offer comes at no charge does not make the headline any more enticing. I meant to describe a new and improved version of myself along with an invitation to view it.

I only just published the newsletter and may be jumping the gun to question if my fewer reads are because of anything more than a busy weekend. It’s likely so…
