KEELEY’S JUNE 30-DAY CHALLENGE
If You Could, Would You Trade Your Sibling For Another?
My brother’s everything and more.
Day Four prompt: A conversation with a sibling you wish you could’ve had.
I’m one of the lucky ones. You know, the kind who still has her only sibling alive and in her life. I don’t speak with my older brother as often as I’d like, but that’s not because we’re estranged. It’s because sometimes life gets busy.
What is a conversation with my brother I’ve never had but wish I did? That’s hard to say since there’s nothing I can’t talk to him about. Still, my mother will pass away one day, and J. and I will have many conversations. I’m not looking forward to those. The one’s born of grief and despair but also of love.
There’s nothing more important to my mother than family, so in her honour, J. and I will remain close — for her sake and each other. After all, we will be all that’s left of our nuclear family. Maybe then I’ll realize we could have talked while Mom was still alive.
Other than separation by death or estrangement, I can’t pick a conversation I should or could have had because there’s nothing standing in my way.
