KEELEY’S MAY 31-DAY CHALLENGE
I Wasn’t Horsing Around in My ’67 Mustang Convertible
But on my wedding day it took me for a wild ride.
Day Two prompt: Tell me about the day/s you were married.
I dreamed of my wedding day long before I knew the man I’d marry. It was my day to play “Princess for a day” — a reason to shine. When Marty proposed, saying yes was a no-brainer, but what kind of wedding we’d have was a decision we needed to make. How lavish an event did we want and how comfortable did we wish our guests to be? We decided on a split between traditional and comfort. First, we married in a Synagogue and had the reception at my in-law’s home.
I arrived at the Shul dressed in my gown fit for royalty. It was a stunning dress adorned with French and Italian lace with a modest train. My brother walked me down the aisle in place of my handicapped father, but he was there, cheering for me from the front row. The ceremony was beautiful — a combination of English and Hebrew diction. The funniest part of the service was when my husband tried to break the ceremonial glass with his rubber sole. The shoe bounced off the glass and despite several attempts more, it took extra exaggerated effort to crack it.
