KEELEY’S MAY 31-DAY CHALLENGE
I Thought Poetry Month Was Over
So what’s with this prompt?
Day Thirteen prompt: Write a poem about your favourite flower.
Skye’s shelter name was Petal,
At least, that’s how the story goes.
She was a shy girl, rather delicate,
Was she a lily, mum, or rose?
I don’t know how she got her name,
Though she was a natural beauty,
Her personality was full of charm,
She was a real cutie.
With Skye around, no flowers were
Upon my desk or table,
That cat would eat the stems and leaves,
And thorns, if she were able.
So, when my birthday came around,
Ed never got me a bouquet,
I missed those fragrant budding blooms,
But loved Skye more than words can say.
Now that she’s gone, I can have my share,
But it doesn’t yet feel right,
I find it disrespectful,
But in the coming months, I might.
