I agree. They rarely amount to much, but I guess they can also serve as an ice breaker as long as they're not too crass. I can't even think of one that's been used on me, and I don't remember ever using one, but that could be a symptom of my love for Ed and my life with him, or my aging. Overall, I'm fairly sure it's because no pick up lines ever made a long lasting impression.
