Day Twenty-Three: Has Your Parents’ Relationship Affected the Way You Love Your Partner?
I’ll never tell.
When I think about love — how I view, chase, and achieve it — I take my cue from my mom. She is a love master. She loves her family fiercely. Nothing matters to her more. And this is who I will focus on in my answer because first, she doesn’t like me to talk about her personal life, and second, I learned my love lessons not from my parents’ marriage but from the beauty of mom’s selflessness.
Over the years, I’ve written about my mother, and through my words, it’s clear that she’s someone I highly admire. She is a pillar of strength, an amazing listener, and a compassionate friend, so it’s no wonder people love being around her. I think when God made her; he broke the mould. My husband, Ed, says the same thing about me. So, I figure I’ve learned a thing or two from her.
My mother would go to the ends of the earth for her children and grandchildren. There isn’t anything she won’t do to make life easier in whatever capacity she can. Not only do I offer myself in the same way to my children and grandchildren, but I also behave in the same way with Ed. I nurture, pamper, cuddle, and love him in ways I never thought possible.
