Day Twenty: The Home You’ve Lived in the Longest

For a person who has lived in only one city, it surprises me that I’ve lived in many different homes. Just yesterday, I counted seventeen, and I’m not done yet. I plan to win the lottery, and when I do, Ed and I will move to a dwelling with more storage space, an additional bathroom, and a home with a spare bedroom to accommodate the day Ed kicks me out of the master bedroom because I snore. I suppose I can’t blame him. I rumble louder than a Mac truck.

Moving won’t be easy because I love our condo. It has many wonderful features with beautiful surroundings, situated by the lake. But we’re new to this area, having moved here four short years ago. While I lived in one of my matrimonial homes for five years, it shouldn’t surprise me to discover my childhood duplex is the home where I’ve lived the longest. It’s the place that holds much meaning, but not only for reasons you may think.

This three-storey, six-unit building was designed by one uncle and built by another from my mother’s side. Talk about family unity. Further, each unit housed a relative, meaning I was bumping into an aunt, uncle, cousin, or grandparent at every turn. I loved the love…
