Day Twenty-Six: The Closest You’ve Come to Death

I’m fortunate never to have suffered a near-death experience, required life-saving action, or received news of a terminal illness (Thank you, God), so I’m unsure I know how close I’ve come to death. Still, last year’s bout with Covid was the sickest I’ve ever been, unlike when I had walking pneumonia. That may have been worse, but I was just a kid, and all I remember about the illness was that I missed Halloween.

I have many aches, pains, and worries about my health, but age and anxiety cause much of that. Until I lived through Covid and the three-month effects of Long Covid, I never realized how healthy I typically feel. Sometimes you need something to compare it to.

You can read more about it here, written for another of Keeley Schroder’s challenges.

I don’t want to be redundant. Fortunately, I survived to tell the tale.
