Day Twenty-Seven: Someone From Your Past You’d Love to See Again

Looking back into the past for someone I’d love to see again is almost as bad as asking me if I’d like to attend my high school reunion. The blunt answer is it’s not happening. While there are odd “boys” I had childhood crushes on who might be cool to bump into and a former teacher who made a significant impression on me, I’m not entirely secure with what’s become of me.

Sorry, I know it’s rather sad, but I’m speaking my truth.

So, I’m not sure if Keeley would consider three years ago, someone from the past, but it feels like forever since the day my psychiatrist unexpectedly died.

I had seen him for nearly twenty-nine years, so his death struck a chord. While DR. S and I always remained professional, he often slipped into the role of a father figure, and at other times, I secretly labelled him as a friend. You can’t go that long without making a lasting impression.

In our final years together, I saw him once a month. This was in stark contrast to when I first visited him three times a week so long ago. As much as I made admirable progress, I couldn’t entirely cut the string and stop seeing him. Dr. S promised…
