I’ve lived a good life. One filled with joys and difficulties, twists and turns, but what do you expect from someone over sixty? So, when asked about the happiest time in my life, it was difficult to choose. It’s no secret I had a lot of ground to cover when deciding. And then it hit me. It became perfectly clear. When nipples are involved, I’m in heaven.

No, you haven’t read the question wrong, and we’re not back to Keeley’s question about sex. What I’m talking about here involves nursing my young. I’ve had three children — each of them nursed. While many erotically fantasize about a nipple to the mouth, in case you don’t know, breast-to-baby is euphoric but is anything but sexual. At least for me. I never felt happier than when I had the power to soothe and nourish my infants with all that I had. Never had I felt so peaceful.

It wasn’t an easy start. My first daughter was difficult to latch onto my breasts, and she took advantage of my inexperience, but I refused to give up, and I’m so glad that I didn’t. The feelings that came with sharing feeding time — skin to skin, eye to eye, heart to heart — were beyond description. Knowing there wasn’t anything my boob couldn’t do to reassure her was…
