Day Fourteen: Can Love Overcome All Obstacles?
With two solid relationships under my belt, I should know.
Had you asked me this question twenty-six years ago, around the time of my separation, I would have answered with an emphatic no. Marty and I loved each other deeply. That never changed, and it never will. But sometimes, circumstances happen, and when it does, life has a way of offering no way out. Or at least that’s how it seemed. After all, only hindsight’s 20/20.
Today, I am in love with Ed. He makes me reassess the phrase of whether love can overcome all obstacles because, so far, it’s rung true. The two of us have faced many major setbacks that would level any reasonable person on their own, but together, we were a formidable force. When one faltered, the other stood tall. When one of us thought of giving up, the other carried the burden. We’ve weathered heartache, heartbreak, disaster, and more, and only our love for each other has pulled us through.
When you get down to it, I can say our love saved the day. And with each obstacle, Ed and I have grown closer. How can you not appreciate the one who covers for you at your lowest point while allowing you the ability to shine?
