Day Five: The Sickest You’ve Ever Been — Mentally or Physically
This one was highly emotional because I’ve only recently healed.
So far, this was the hardest of the prompts because the topic runs deep after having only recently recovered from Covid. On August 19, 2022, a colleague unknowingly infected me with the virus, and for the next three months, I could hardly lift my head.
It started with chills, a 102-degree Fahrenheit (38.9 C) fever, a headache, and a sore throat. I was sure I caught a cold from icy blasts of air conditioning. Still, that night, after receiving word that two other coworkers who had been around this colleague tested positive, I took a Rapid Antigen Test and tested positive, too.

That day, I was excitedly eager to see what it was all about. But in the days following, my smile disappeared as the symptoms worsened, and the couch, pillow, and duvet became my permanent home. A part of our home that was away from Ed.
The headaches intensified, the fatigue rendered me beyond lethargic, the headaches severe, digestion and breathing were laborious, and my voice box sporadically disappeared. I couldn’t lift…
