I can hear the masses clapping. A sound so loud it’s ringing in my ears over today’s prompt. The one many will find easier than in the past days, but for me, the one that brings me sadness. Besides writing, I’m a boring person who eats, drinks, works, and shits, with little other interest to name. Sure, I could talk about writing, but I thought that would be too easy. I’m trying to challenge myself. I refuse to give in to the mundane. I’m too extraordinary for that.

So, here I sit, taking stock of what I’m good at. Does naming the mix of dog breeds when I meet a mutt count? Yup. Baking tasty butter tarts? Yup again. Each is worth mentioning but hardly fodder for a five-hundred-word story.

Do I garden? Never. Do I sew? Uh-uh, I can’t thread a needle. I don’t rug hook, doodle, collect anything or marker adult colouring books. Although I once did those hobbies in earlier times.

While I suspect I’ll read stories about how everyone else lives a fulfilled life, mine is quiet. So, if I had to name an activity I do for pleasure, I’d say I love watching game shows. It’s my form of guilty escapism — a place where fun knows no bounds.
