Day Eight: Your favourite or least favourite family pet (or a pet that wasn’t yours)
Please tell me, how can you pick only one?
Don’t you love when children talk about their favourite colour or flavour, only to list several things instead of just one? Today, I feel like that child. I’ve had many pets during my lifetime. There’s Maggie (the saviour), Fraser (the babysitter), and Skye (the adorable). But, when speaking about my favourite, it’s impossible to choose one. Skye, our cat, has compromised kidneys, and we’re waiting for her prognosis. After one day of treatment, she reacted positively, showing incredible improvement. Now, a few days later, she continues to improve. Whether there’s kidney disease or damage remains to be seen.
The mental anguish is exhausting; the worry is real. So, to distract me from our situation — the one I can’t control, I’ve changed focus. Instead of letting you in on my favourite pet, I’m revealing my least favourite, despite her being mine for less than one hour.
