Day Eighteen prompt: Can you be a cat person and a dog person?

Someday, somewhere, someone got confused. So as they walked the path of loneliness, they searched for a companion to heal their heart. That’s when two furry creatures, one a dog, the other a cat, appeared to offer their support. Both were four-legged and had fur with a tail. But unfortunately, before this person could choose, the pets’ owners appeared and stole their charges away, leaving the outcast alone.

The person walked the path daily, only to find the same thing happening day after day. So finally, the person asked the owners.

“Why won’t you let your pets offer me their company? Why do you steal them away?”

The owners sneered at each other, and the cat owner replied, “You can only have one — a cat or a dog. You can’t have both.”

“Yes,” continued the dog owner. My pet will shower you with love, kisses, protection, and companionship. To hang with a feline would be catastrophic.”

“What do you know about cats?” the cat owner refuted. “My cat does all that, too, but she does it on her terms.”
