KEELEY’S APRIL 30-DAY CHALLENGE
Can We Talk?
Joan Rivers was the comedy queen, and in my mind, she still is.
Oops, I accidentally published today’s prompt yesterday, so in keeping with the confusion, I’m publishing yesterday’s prompt today. Are you still following me?
Great.
So, “Can We Talk?” I ask, using my best Joan River’s accent.
Day Three prompt: Who is your favourite comedian, and why?
Hands down, my favourite comedian is Joan Rivers, for obvious reasons. That woman was “seriously funny.” Don’t you love a good oxymoron? She gave me many nights of chuckles on The Tonight Show, and her light-hearted, hilarious pregnancy advice in her book, “Having a baby can be a scream,” had me in stitches before my first episiotomy. Now that she’s gone, I’ve replaced her with no other.
Joan was extremely relatable, which added to her appeal. Some found her overstepping boundaries no comedian should cross, but if she did, I never noticed. I’m a woman with a deep outlook on life, so I welcomed the comic relief many others failed to provide.
Does this mean I haven’t laughed since her death?
Hardly.
