SUSIE’S RELATIONSHIP 30-DAY CHALLENGE
As a Grandmother, I Want to Be More Than a Name
What are your relationship goals?
I believe my relationship with Ed is on track and has been for a while, so I don’t spend a lot of time dwelling on it. It works because we’re considerate of each other, we’re willing to admit when we’re wrong and apologize for it, we’re beyond honest and trustworthy, and we’re madly in love. So, that’s not the relationship I’m working on. In this session of internal work, in my quest to fulfill my vision of peace, love, and gratitude, I’ve focused on my relationships with my grandchildren. I want to ensure I have wonderful ones and not let my anxieties get in the way.
1st Goal: To enjoy each other.
It’s been said that the beauty of becoming a grandparent is that you can give them back, no questions asked. You can’t say the same about your children. I have three grandchildren, with another on the way; the eldest is three. I don’t see them often, but when I do, I ensure our time is upbeat and playful. I love hearing my granddaughter laugh when we play hide-and-seek, especially as she stands in plain sight with her eyes closed. The rule is if she can’t see you, you can’t see her. Isn’t childhood logic amazing?
