Day Eighteen prompt: Write a letter to scammers or cold callers.

Dear Duct Cleaning Representative,

It’s me.

I doubt you’d recognize me by voice, but I’m sure my sentiments ring a bell. I don’t envy your job, but you picked it.

I think you’re a glutton for punishment. How often have I asked you to please take me off your list, but you refuse to heed my suggestion? And I’m not fooling. I can’t be of service to you, yet you reject my pleas to move on.

You and I. We’ve gone through a process.

We started out congenial, but look where we are now. You’re a bane in my existence, bringing out the worst in me.

I once gave you my time, recognizing you were doing a job which likely paid peanuts. But once your incessant calling became irritating, I asked you to stop. When you didn’t listen, I resorted to uglier tactics.

Instead of you calling and causing me the indignities of hanging up on a fellow person, I’ve turned our questions and answers back on to you.

Have you noticed?
