Day Fourteen prompt: Celebrating Mother’s Day: Write an open letter to your mum
Dear Mom,
I don’t play the lottery often, but I hit the jackpot when God gave me you. You always made me feel cherished and wanted. You taught me what a mother is and how a mother should act, but most of all, you showed me how much you could love your children. Not just any daughter. A child like me.
I wasn’t easy, given my sensitive nature. I was always shy and clung to you like glue. But you brought me along with you and helped me feel protected. When the world was too big for me, you shielded me from overstimulation, and I knew if ever I needed something, you’d always be there. And this has stayed true all my life. All it takes is a phone call, and you become my cheering section, or you lend me your ear.
I’ve always respected and admired you. When I was younger, you were my hero. In my adulthood, you felt more like a friend. Not because you were no longer a positive role model but because I could tell you everything and anything, and you wouldn’t judge me. Or maybe you did, a little, but only to set me on the right path.
