Day Six prompt: What do you think of the English Royal Family?

They say there are moments in time that stick in your mind, and the death of Lady Diana is one of them. She died when I held little self-love, only to find myself in the bed of a less-than-considerate man. But at first, he had his assets. I credit him for teaching me things I didn’t sexually know well. But then I heard the horrific news. That’s when everything about life became real. If a woman so saintly could lose her life in a flash, what meaning did my life hold? And why wasn’t this man I was with grieving her loss, too?

I couldn’t hold back the tears. My sobbing was uncontrollable, but Peter couldn’t care less — for Diana’s death or my bereavement. His solution was to take me into his bed as if nothing had happened. As the room spun, I propped my hand against the wall and steadied myself. Clearly, it was time for me to leave, out of my lover’s condo and out of his life, forever. He had shown his cards. He was a man of little heart. To him, I was nothing more than a play toy.
