A backwards story — Part two

Tomorrow is my anniversary. Ed and I have been together formally for eleven years.

I worry I may forget to give him his card because it’s tucked away on the bookshelf so he wouldn’t find it.

I’m not sure I should even give it to him because he probably didn’t find the time to get me one. I don’t want to make him feel bad — one way card giving can have that effect.

In the past, his cards have had the right amount of sweetness, often mixed with a side of humour.

Several years ago, he got me my favourite card with a Beagle puppy on it. It’s the only greeting card I’ve kept and we both enjoy looking at the adorable face often.

I’m not sure if I ever told him my childhood imaginary dog was a beagle.

Imagine that!
